What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file stored on your device by the website you visit. This policy also covers similar technologies, such as the browser’s local storage.
Under the Belgian law of 13 June 2005 on electronic communications, we don’t set any non-essential cookie without your consent.
Your choice
On your first visit, a banner asks whether you accept audience measurement. Refusing is as easy as accepting, and the website works the same either way.
You can change your mind at any time with the round yellow button at the bottom left of the screen. If you withdraw your consent, the audience measurement cookies are deleted. Your choice is kept for 6 months, after which we ask again.
The cookies we use
Strictly necessary (no consent needed)
- excelsior-consent (local storage, www.excelsior-rocks.be): remembers your cookie choice. Duration: 6 months.
- __cf_bm (www.excelsior-rocks.be, set by Cloudflare): tells visitors apart from bots to protect the website. Duration: 30 minutes.
Audience measurement (with your consent)
Set by Microsoft Clarity, only if you accept:
- _clck (www.excelsior-rocks.be): recognises the same visitor across visits. Duration: 1 year.
- _clsk (www.excelsior-rocks.be): groups the pages viewed during one visit. Duration: 1 day.
- CLID (clarity.ms): identifies a browser’s first visit to sites using Clarity. Duration: 1 year.
- MUID (clarity.ms, bing.com): browser identifier used by Microsoft. Duration: 1 year.
- ANONCHK (clarity.ms): checks that the MUID is not passed on for advertising. Duration: 10 minutes.
What Clarity does with this data is described in our privacy policy.
Content from third-party services
- YouTube: the aftermovie loads in privacy-enhanced mode, only when you press play. YouTube may then store data in your browser.
- Google Maps: the map in the footer is provided by Google, which may set its own cookies. See Google’s policy.
Managing cookies in your browser
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may stop some websites from working properly.
